Silkroad Online is Joymax' massively multiplayer release based on a fantasy version of the historical trade route between China and Europe. The action takes place in locations derived from the real world and the legends of the various regions, and the play involves questing as well as fending off a broad range of formidable monsters. The vast world of Silkroad Online has several distinct regions including Hotan, which is one of the most dynamic cities in the game. After traipsing through introductory areas of Jangan and Constantinople, players arrive at the largest, heavily populated and most economically vibrant settlement along the ancient trade routes. Its gates are the entry to the rest of the Silk Road.
Here, the European and Chinese races intermingle silkroad gold in the pursuit of trade. Hotan is also home to challenging, higher-level monsters that drop valuable items for both. Players striving to reach higher levels often begin their serious training in this city. Aside from instruction and trade opportunities, it offers the usual amenities such as blacksmiths, armories, potion merchants and accommodations.
