1.Madden NFL 11

Based on Metacritic scores, Madden NFL 11 is the highest-rated American Football title in the past ten years. On top, the game was offered free to the subscribers of Sports Illustrated, similar to the previous year. The game was noted to be a much better fit for casual players. A lot of reviewers considered this game to be a good bang for the buck, saying it has better controls, better presentation, and overall much more fulfilling gameplay.
2. Madden NFL 04

It’s hard to find a game that’s more universally liked than Madden NFL 04. Madden 04, which launched in 2003, featured then-Falcons QB Michael Vick on the cover. Vick was arguably the most OP player in Madden history, thanks to his 90+ ratings in both Speed and Throw Power. Vick was surely going to go off in any game that featured the Atlanta Falcons, especially since he had WR Brian Finneran (who also had some ridiculous stats) on his side.
But besides the legendary video game greatness of Michael Vick, this game makes the top of this list for several reasons. One, this game introduced players to Owner Mode, which allowed users to take over a franchise and manage the day-to-day financial operations and set gameday promotions. Additionally, Madden 04 also saw the introduction of Playmaker Control. This feature allowed players to change plays on the fly without audible and direct teammates to block defenders during the play.
3.Madden NFL 16

Building upon the success of its predecessor, the game took everything fans loved about NFL 15 and combined it with a plethora of new features and improvements. The end result is a game that’s still a blast to play to this day, especially on PS4 and Xbox One. This is one of the last entries to also release on the previous generation of consoles where the reception was less positive, as it’s often the case. However, that doesn’t take away from the overall quality of the game.
4.Madden NFL 13

Madden NFL 13 belongs to the era when PS3 and Xbox 360 were in their final few years, so developers have had enough time to squeeze the best out of these systems. This is why the game sits at such a good score because it was an overall pretty balanced experience. While some parts of the game were completely useless, such as the Kinect voice support, the game still managed to offer enough useful things to be rated as one of the best Madden NFL games ever.
5.Madden NFL 17

One of the 2016's Madden game's most prominent features was a new ground game mechanic that resulted in much more balanced gameplay. This turned out in the game's favor, making Madden NFL 17 a delightful game. Most of the critics have liked the new defense AI in the game and have praised its Franchise Mode as well. However, there was one thing a lot of fans and critics disliked about this game, and that was its commentary.
As with most sports games, the formula for Madden games remains much the same year after year. Given that it is based on the actual National Football League, there is little room for variety on what the game is; however, a few times over the years, the franchise has seen its game modes restructured with new modes and significant revisions.
